While belly fried clams the way they should be done! This is the only place we've found in this area that knows how to do clams right. We will go back!
MoreLove the seafood stew. Chowda is delicious as always. Our lobster rolls we're just phenomenal and we suggest trying them hot or cold. Our server was wonderful. It's great to see this place back to original.
MoreWent here for first time...clam chowder is excellent, too expensive though, crackers were very stale, looked at the menu, too expensive, probably won't go back!
MoreGreat New England food. Clams and lobster shipped from New England. Fried clam strips are delicious!
MoreUnder new management. Therefore the quality of food has improved tremendously. Really enjoyed the All-you-can eat fish on Friday & Saturday's. Delicious! Will be going here more often now.
MoreLightly fried seafood and awesome onion rings!
I had the cod sandwich with onion rings, the skinny ones, I must say it was very good. The size of fish was decent. The place is clean , my only complaint is the parking, also clam chowder was excellent. .
MoreThe waitress Cyndi was great
Pleasantly surprised. Had been avoiding since last owners disappointed us. We had a clam roll and a scallop roll with onion rings and coleslaw. Fried right and delicious. Clams were nice size....small to medium. Generous serving. Best I've had in a while. Hopefully these owners will be consistent. Nice to find a place that can fry like my New England roots. I'm happy!
MoreI wouldn’t even rate one star if I had the option to rate lower. This place sucks! Understaffed. The staff they do seem to have, SUCKS. Food is to expensive. To greasy. They wouldn’t even give me a To-go fork unless I spent more money. They are ridiculous, and don’t pay their workers. And they all do drugs!
MoreWe were looking forward to lunch at this place, but were very disappointed. There is no atmosphere. Just a bunch of tables in a row with a few Boston sports pictures on the wall. The clam chowder had a strange taste to it and the fish sandwich was about half the size you get at many restaurants. The beer was cold but at $5 per bottle, way over priced. They were out of clam strips that my wife wanted and the lettuce appeared to be frozen. The waitress was very nice.
MorePretty bad food. Nothing in common with Boston (except maybe bad Boston restaurants). Red Lobster is 1000x better.... Ms. Paul's frozen fish sticks are way better too.
MoreAmazingly tasty! Jj can whip up a mean lobster roll here or anything else you are craving. I just want to admire Jj the managers dedication and hard work he put in and his culinary talents. I just love coming into this place not only because the food is so good that I have cravings for it, but the staff makes you feel so welcome and comfortable. The service is great and organized. If you want a taste of 5 star food and a good time, stop into bit of Boston, you will be satisfied that you did.
MoreNot as good as under previous owners. Chowdah wasn't hot, clam cakes we overcooked, very greasy. Conveyed these thoughts to waitress. She commented that they are always like this and it is how they are supposed to be. Sealed their fate with that! Absolutely NOT what they are supposed to be. Drive down to Port Charlotte to RJ's N. E. Seafood Fantastic food. R.I. and N.E. Chowdah.
MoreUnder the former owner the food was amazing is most like New England. My last visit was very disappointing as the food was horrible and prices have gone up a lot. The chowder was awful was very water and probably from a can. Coleslaw Was DISGUSTING and what use to be a platter of food has been reduced to slightly smaller than a plate. MOST LIKELY WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!
MoreNo atmosphere, acceptable food at best. Our server was enjoyable though.
Good food, nice owner! Hard to find hidden gem.
wonderful staff excellent food a must go to in venice
Visited there in October, 2017. New Owners. Poorly prepared food, and high prices. And a server who continuously referred to me as "honey, dear, sweety, sweetheart". Couldn't leave fast enough...
MoreFirst time and the last time. Hot lobster roll was smaller than my hand, doused in butter, no flavor. With the lunch special you had an option of clam chowder or lobster bisque, we all really wanted lobster bisque but they said their truck never came that day so they didn’t have it... All three women in my group got sick after eating the food!!! Never again....
MoreFried food greasy, portions down, prices up.
Great food and great prices!
Love it! Authentic Boston seafood that is awesome! The lobster roll and chowdah are excellent. Highly recommend you stop by. You won't be disappointed.
MoreGreat fresh New England seafood including whole belly clams.
Great little place with the best calamari
I am from New England so need I say more!!!! When I moved here I really missed the food from my area. Finding this wonderful delicious nugget was just what I needed. I love all the Boston charm inside, the staff are wonderful. I recommend this place to anyone from home or who loves seafood. To bad it's closed right now I could really go for a clam plate. Try it you will not be disappointed.
MoreVery very nice place to eat
Tried when the new owners took over and the chowder and clam cakes did not taste the same. Not good. Went today to give it another shot got some clam cakes. They we're horrible. Mostly tiny, over cooked on the outside, and mushy in the inside. To top that no clams in 3 of them. What a shame the food use to be outstanding.
MoreFood is good. Very limited parking. Prices to reasonable
Food was "so-so" and limited, and didn't give me the sense I was in a Boston restaurant even though there were ample Boston paraphernalia on the walls. The restaurant was a bit smallish, and they were fresh out of Boston Lager. Prices were almost reasonable.I may return if I'm driving to the area for another appointment, since it seemed to be the only seafood-like restaurant around.
MoreFantastic! Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Highly recommend!
This is the best of Venice!!! If you're from New England and miss the taste of good clam chowder, fresh hot (or cold) lobster rolls - head on over! My mom loves the New England hot dog rolls for her hot dogs! Great family run restaurant!! Yummy!
MoreIf you like Ipswich ma fried clams, forget it not even close. I wasn't, satisfied at all.
MoreWent in today,to have a nice lunch with my husband,we got 2 cups of chowda,2 sodas, and 2 fried clam strip rolls with f.f and he was onion rings, expected to walk out with about 30.00 tops, got to register total$50.14,wow,just for lunch.Wasnt that expensive when we last time, and we order the same thing Every time.Wont be going back there for lunch. If never been there before, watch prices, you'll be in sticker shock like we were. And since under new MGT,food not as good as it was before
MoreFried food, super ugly and out dated decor! Not worth your time!
Good food and service, location is a little hard to find but worth the effort.
We are locals...lived here since the 70's and this is by far our favorite restaurant in the area. The lobster roll is NOT frozen...and perfectly delicious. We eat at B of B about three times a month and love it! Staff is super nice and I love the relaxed atmosphere! We are not Boston Red Sox fans...we are RAYS fans...but still go to B of B! You guys are the best! See you soon!
MoreNot too much charm about the restaurant. Good eats, but service could be better.
The worst place I have been too. If you like Bland food well this is the place to go. NOTHING BOSTON ABOUT THIS PLACE. The prices are high for little food. Coleslaw was bland. The only thing they did do right is fried it. Would never go there.
MoreMiss the old owners...but hoping the new ones pick up where previous people left off with te great food
MoreThe worst restaurant I have ever dined at in Florida after many vacations. Under staffed, terrible service, the worst lobster roll I have ever had. A waste of time, money, and calories. I am certain this restaurant will be out of business in the near future before my next trip to Florida.
MoreThey keep changing the menu and just raised the prices. Used old grease. Allowed customers into the kitchen area which isn't sanitary. Just not the same with the new owners. The soda was flat.
MoreLoved the Lobster Roll served hot with melted butter. The New England Chowder was excellent. The New owner's are very nice and new staff have amazing hospitality.
MoreWas very dissatisfied with the service and food. My mixed vegetables were scorched and did not get any replacement for it until after I had finished my shrimp. Prices were high for what you got
MoreWow not my best visit with this restaurant.Had to clean off our own table then was very dissatisfied with the food Clam cakes we're doughy and no clams in the Clam cake. At least the bathroom was clean.
MoreGood clam strips, aesthetics not so good
They don't have what they list on the menu. Seafood is cooked very poor. They do not know what service is all about. They gave me flat soda, when I informed them of this, they felt it was my fault. They cook food poorly and don't want to hear any compaints.
MoreMy husband and I lived in Venice for a year and loved visiting all the different restaurants, especially A Bit of Boston. We've moved back to North Georgia but still make it to Venice 2 or 3 times a year. When in town, one of our stops is always at A Bit of Boston for their Lobster Roll.My husband has been up to the New England area and know what Lobster Rolls taste like and he says the Lobster Roll at A Bit of Boston is the real thing. We both get the Lobster Roll almost every time we eat there. The staff is friendly, the Lobster Roll is a little expensive but when you see how much lobster you get on the roll, they don't skimp, it's well woth it and tastes Fabulous! When in Venice, make the drive to A Bit of Boston, and order the Lobster Roll, or any of the other dishes, everything is great!
MoreA Bit of Boston is a decent seafood restaurant, and will feel comfortable for those longing for a taste of New England in SW Florida. Being from NE, we were hoping for "true" fried clams: the whole-belly variety. They can be found in Florida, but most people seem to prefer the "clam strips." ABOB does have them, so we ordered those plus onion rings, a lobster roll and some blackened shrimp. Everything was good, although I found the clams to be crispier than I prefer. That said, they were tasty enough, and the blackened shrimp were very good. The lobster roll got a thumbs up too. This is an informal pick-your-own-seat type of place, so don't expect anything fancy. Service was friendly ... a bit on the slow side, but I think they were understaffed at the time we visited. I wouldn't drive 20 miles out of my way to go there, but if you're in the Venice FL area and looking for seafood, this will nicely fit the bill.
MoreUsed to be much better. Loved the whole belly clams. Last couple times not so much, everything was tasting like old grease. Hopefully they get good again or it might be time to close up shop.
